The new role of ghost rider played by the character of Robbie Reyes instead of Johnny Blaze was an interesting choice seen by the directors and they explain why they chose this character over others to play the role of ghost rider in Comic Book Movie according to whom The Marvel catalogue is filled with really interesting, new and often strange things . So they hit on Ghost Rider and in particular with the character of Robbie Reyes, because the show sticks on the idea of family and how that works in the real world. Robbie and his relationship with Gabe and his relationship with the Ghost Rider are all really interesting things for the S.H.I.E.L.D. team to encounter even in negative ways.

According to IBT “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and executive producer Jed Whedon warned that Robbie’s journey as Ghost Rider would differ from the source material indicating that it would differ from the original comic book script written.

Robbie Reyes is a Mexican-American high school student who drives his Dodge Charger muscle car and lives in his hometown of East LA. The character wears a flaming helmet when the ghost rider enters his body instead of his head changing into a flaming skull. Robbie works at a garage, lives with his developmentally disabled brother Gabe and wants to get both of them away from the gangs that run East LA. Robbie is not like the other Ghost Riders who made deals with demons, he was as a fact cursed with his Ghost Rider powers after he was shot dead by gang members and was brought back to life as a demonic being. The spoiler is that the character was bound with a spirit named Eli Morrow who together take out the criminal gang members to make East LA safe and avenge Eli’s death but according to the comic books Eli is supposed to be Robbie’s uncle who was actually a serial killer who would explain the demonic quality and caused Gabe’s developmental problems when he pushed his pregnant mother down while she was carrying Gabe. Eli was later killed by the police.

The season seems to have brilliant effects as the ghost rider is not seen on a bike and a heavy metal car. It is also interesting to see the relationship between Robbie, his brother and how the possession of ghost rider complicates the situation.
