India can lift the FIFA World Cup: Until 1983 India did not see it a possibility to win on the big stage when it mattered. In fact going in as the underdogs against West Indies would have probably been the last thing the Indians wanted. But fate had other plans for them and they went all the way to claim hands on the most prestigious prize in Cricket’s history. From then on it was more of an uphill climb with plenty of cheers and tears, plenty of wins and losses. Although it is fair to say that over the decades India has grown to become a dominant force in the game of Cricket. Many players unheard of put on the blue skin and have gone on to engrave their names in history.
So, if such a predicament could be turned into a burning fire that gets Team India pacing why can’t the similar happen in shorts and a pair of boots? Football as we all know is the biggest sport if we have to account for fan popularity, money, and participation why then can India not do it?
With the popularization of the I-League and the birth of the Indian Super League it isn’t just the end of a long wait to join in on the football pitch, rather it is the start of a great journey, thatif not our lifetime, will have the future generation watching a team of Indians holding the 6.1 Kg of football glory.
